Thanks again for your contribution from the sidelines - it&#039;s great to hear from the likes of yourself and Tim Bray, and to see OCCI finally starting to get some external attention.

In answer to your &quot;question&quot;, OCCI implementations:
 - mustIgnore but preserve foreign markup (following Atom&#039;s example) - though it may be worth considering adding a &quot;critical&quot; or &quot;mustUnderstand&quot; flag
 - use a hierarchical namespace and/or URI schemes for safe extension (following Firefox&#039;s about:config example)
 - use simple datatypes (e.g. string, integer, etc.) or refer to an external (possibly binary) format by way of LINKs
 - go in the HTTP headers (where they belong according to the HTTP spec we are trying to follow as closely as possible)
