<description>Thank you for the kind words about RightScale. I use this service also for many projects. They have made my dreams of a killer project come true.

Keep up the great posts. Cloud Computing is my passion. I will read every word.

<description>Certainly beyond &quot;hobbyist&quot; today, in 2000 I was still learning how to change the world :-). But the context of your story sure rang a bell with me.

I agree with your view that PaaS is a tremendous enabler. And I&#039;ve got a few friends and family that could really use a web-accessible 10-100 user app right about now ...

<description>Indeed, though I would consider you Craig a tad bit over the &quot;hobbyist&quot; level, don&#039;t you think? :-)</description>

<description>Wow, Struts 1.0 pretty much qualifies on the criteria listed in your first paragraph :-).

It was conceived originally out of a bunch of mailing list discussions about reasonable MVC-ish architectures for a servlet+JSP based application, but the core of the original code was written on a three-day Memorial Day weekend at the Oregon coast (one of the first times I ever took a laptop along with me, which my wife was none too happy about at the time :-). I figured a few hundred people in the world might be casually interested in it. Guess I was wrong.

Of course, it would have been nice to pull this off in the current &quot;monetizing open source is good, not evil&quot; environment rather than 2000, but I digress ...
